Publishing to remote servers with Webdav or FTP.

I'm guessing this is a reported bug, but I haven't been able to publish to
either my webdav or my ftp servers and I think the issue initially has to do
with the fact that the standalone client and the .xpi that I'm downloading
does not include the option for a username or password as referenced in the
HOW-TO: Webdav Primary Mozilla Calendar which is linked from the calendar
FAQ page (http://www.twilight-systems.com/flacco/mozcal/mozcal-webdav.html).
I can send my screenshots if need be, but my publish to remote calendar
screen only includes a Location input field on my clients (linux and
windows). I've tried with the ftp://***@ftp.domain.com/test/test.ics
and also with the ftp://ftp.domain.com/test/test.ics syntax and it will pull
up a firefox window to authenticate me to the remote location, but it never
stops circling in the calendar list on the left side of the screen.

I'm lost. I really want to be able to use the remote calendaring, and it
seems like people are using it, but there is no documentation that seems to
be written for people without a username and password entry field in the
remote calendar setup box.

I've got the same issue, using Mozilla as opposed to Firefox.

In my case, I am using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040809 Mozilla Sunbird/0.2a

My server is vsftpd-1.1.1-fr1 on Red Hat Linux release 8.0 (Psyche) if it matters. I can upload and download from the ftp server just fine using FileZilla. Here are some log entries (my client is 18.18):

Tue Aug 31 16:46:02 2004 [pid 16896] [sunbird] OK LOGIN: Client "192.168.16.10"
Tue Aug 31 16:46:13 2004 [pid 16903] [sunbird] OK LOGIN: Client "192.168.18.18"
Tue Aug 31 16:46:22 2004 [pid 16906] [sunbird] OK LOGIN: Client "192.168.18.18"
Tue Aug 31 16:46:45 2004 [pid 16908] [sunbird] OK DOWNLOAD: Client "192.168.18.18", "/home/sunbird/sample.ics", 0.00Kbyte/sec
Tue Aug 31 16:47:25 2004 [pid 16908] [sunbird] OK DOWNLOAD: Client "192.168.18.18", "/home/sunbird/sample.ics", 0.00Kbyte/sec
Tue Aug 31 16:47:34 2004 [pid 16908] [sunbird] OK DOWNLOAD: Client "192.168.18.18", "/home/sunbird/sample.ics", 0.00Kbyte/sec
Tue Aug 31 16:49:39 2004 [pid 16908] [sunbird] OK DOWNLOAD: Client "192.168.18.18", "/home/sunbird/sample.ics", 0.00Kbyte/sec
Tue Aug 31 17:12:09 2004 [pid 17280] [sunbird] OK LOGIN: Client "192.168.18.18"
Tue Aug 31 17:12:10 2004 [pid 17284] [sunbird] OK DOWNLOAD: Client "192.168.18.18", "/home/sunbird/sample.ics", 0.00Kbyte/sec
Tue Aug 31 17:12:28 2004 [pid 17284] [sunbird] OK DOWNLOAD: Client "192.168.18.18", "/home/sunbird/sample.ics", 0.00Kbyte/sec

So we're getting the file, just not putting it out. Aaaa.

What I've noticed is the ftp://***@ftp.domain.com/filename.ics doesn't seem to help either.

Maybe some of this will help? Thanks a lot to everyone for their work on Sunbird!

Thanks,

I too had the same experience. I tried publishing to my local WebDAV
server using both Mozilla Calendar and Sunbird, the former worked while
the latter hung my machine. Why would this feature work in Mozilla
Calendar and not Sunbird, aren't they essentially 99% the same? BTW,
great work, I love the new theme and am eagerly pushing the
Firefox/Thunderbird/Sunbird solution at my work place.

I am in the same problem, I'm using the .xpi Mozilla Calendar .xpi file
added to Mozilla Suite 1.7.2 and I was looking forward to have a
calendar stored on a WebDAV server (on a linux machine) in order to have
access to my calendar from anywhere (through Internet).
For that, I've installed the "mod_dav" DSO Module for my Apache 2.0.47.
But still I can't sucessfully publish and re-download my calendar : as
if writting on the server disk was impossible whereas "mod_dav" module
is active on my Apache (the server signature proves it).

I'm totaly lost and can't find any doc on the Net :-(

Have you enabled webdav for the directory where you want to store your
calendar file(s)? If not refer to
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_dav.html

This already reported. It appears to happen in 2000, and not so much
in XP. The interface is different than that shown in the FAQ of how to
set it up.

It appears that only myself and one other person have voted for this
defect. If you would like it to have a higher priority, go register a
bugzilla account if you don't already have one, and vote for it. I
need this badly too!

This is an official thread hijack. There are examples of how to setup
your webdav that can be found <a
href="http://www.twilight-systems.com/flacco/mozcal/">here</a>. Split
new questions into new threads for future reference.
